Surfside Players invites the public to AUDITIONS and VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP for a farcical lesson in literature: THE COMPLEAT WRKS OF WLLM SHKSPR (ABRIDGED) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield.
It's depressing that the average adult's first and last exposure to the immortal William Shakespeare takes the form of dry, fragmented readings by bored high-school students and disillusioned teachers. That's why Surfside is offering a crash course in the Bard of Avon, the architect of the modern English language, the guy everyone keeps quoting unintentionally. THREE ACTORS. THIRTY-SEVEN PLAYS. NINETY-SEVEN MINUTES. Now, who in Brevard County is qualified to "teach" this "lesson"? New York Daily News wrote "This irreverent deconstruction of Shakepeare's work makes a dilly of poor Willy. A fantasia of zany energy that throws together Monty Python-ish drag and Mel Brook-ish anything-for-a-laugh gags."On Sunday and Monday, September 11th and 12th at 7:00pm, we will hold open auditions and volunteer recruitment for THE COMPLEAT WRKS OF WLLM SHKSPR (ABRIDGED). We need three adults or older teens who have the energy to run and jump through a play nonstop. Improv comedy experience is a plus. We also need SIX backstage crew members, to juggle props and throw costumes on and off the blurs of motion that are those three actors. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.Videos
