The Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is proud to participate in the National Observance of the Second Annual National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Week, with its production of Return To The Mineshaft, Sunday, September 26th, 2010, 7:30pm, at the Golden Apple Dinner Theatre, 25 N. Pineapple Ave, downtown, Sarasota.
Return To The Mineshaft is a staged play-reading, which gives an historic perspective on the spread of HIV in the MSM community of New York City in the late 80's, and, in a surreal fashion, revisits those affected by HIV/AIDS in the present day. The Mineshaft was a New York City nightclub which first opened its doors in the 1970's. On November 6, 1985, the New York Health Department closed the club down due to the high-risk activities taking place. This staged reading contains adult language and content and is for mature audiences only.
This one night only performance is a free event with donations being gratefully accepted. There will be an available cash bar and free rapid HIV onsite testing from 6pm - 9pm. For tickets call the Golden Apple Box Office at 941-366-5454. Doors open at 7pm, curtain time is 7:30pm.
The Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness, provide assistance, and perpetuate a life of dignity for those affected and infected by HIV and AIDS.
