More Info
The multi-faceted string quartet Brooklyn Rider is becoming increasingly known for its creative programming and exciting collaborations. It is well known for its participation in cellist Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble. Programmatically, the quartet is devoted both to the interpretation of existing quartet literature and to the creation of new works. The program for the Bach Festival Society will present music of a variety of composers, including Colin Jacobson, one of the quartet's members, and Dvo?ak.

Audience engagement and outreach is an essential part of Brooklyn Rider's creative mission. The Bach Festival Society is partnering with A Gift for Music and Orange County Public School's All-County Orchestra program to bring the quartet to the schools to work directly with students. During its three-day residency, Brooklyn Rider will visit the six Title I schools that host the Gift for Music program, reaching every student in A Gift for Music's program plus all 3-5 graders in those schools. On the final day, Brooklyn Rider will work with middle and high school orchestra students participating in Orange County's All-County Orchestra program. In addition to a short performance and Q&A time, the quartet members will work in sectional rehearsals with string students.

Educating the next generation of classical music audiences is an important part of the Bach Festival Society's Mission.
