'Simply Barbra' & The Delay Of 'Some Men'
Due to revised current building codes and their inability to get a certificate of occupancy in a timely manner, The Rising Action Theatre announced with regret the postponement of Terrence McNally's Some Men to April of 2008.
"Chairman Vicky Keller, Director Michael Leeds, the cast and I are heartbroken at the postponement but we are anticipating a brand new opening date for the Rising Action Theatre" said Artistic Director David Goldyn. "We had no idea the permitting process would be so arduous. The new building requirements demand 2 fire walls, fresh air returns, exhaust fans in janitor closets--things we thesbians know very little about. We are down but not out and we will open!"The delay and postponement has cost this fledging non-profit theater tens of thousands of dollars. Thanks to public support they should be able to weather this financial storm. Tax deductible contributions can be sent to the Rising Action Theatre at 840 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Oakland Park Fl 33334. Sponsorships range from $50-$10,000 and include ads in the program or you can buy a seat with your name engraved for $125.
To reschedule ticket dates call Vicky Keller at 954-815-8826.
