Palm Beach Opera Renews Contract Of Chief Conductor Maestro David Stern ImagePalm Beach Opera is proud to announce it is renewing Chief Conductor Maestro David Stern's contract with the company for another three-year term, which will include conducting two mainstage productions for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.

Maestro Stern made his Palm Beach Opera debut during the 2013-2014 season when he conducted Verdi's Macbeth. In 2015, he was appointed to the chief conductor position after conducting the company's successful world premiere of Enemies, A Love Story.

Maestro Stern will enter his sixth consecutive season with Palm Beach Opera next year. He has conducted many of Palm Beach Opera's mainstage shows, including last year's productions of Madama Butterfly and The Pirates of Penzance, as well as the company's most recent production, Tosca.

The chief conductor will lead the orchestra in the company's recently-announced 2019 productions of Mozart's Don Giovanni and Strauss' Die Fledermaus, and is enthusiastic about signing on for another few seasons, stating he "looks forward to many more exciting projects."

"Palm Beach Opera is simply a jewel of an institution," said Maestro Stern. "Devoted to excellence at the highest possible level, the company strives for keeping opera vital and dynamic."

The company is excited to continue strengthening its orchestra with Maestro Stern. Having a chief conductor continually in place contributes to the overall advancement of Palm Beach Opera's artistic quality, and further solidifies its talented team of musician and artists.

"After many successful productions together, we are thrilled to be renewing Maestro Stern's contract," said General Director Daniel Biaggi. "His continued partnership will allow for an even more refined and cohesive orchestra, raising our standards of artistic excellence and maintaining our position as an essential arts organization in South Florida."

Palm Beach Opera's 2018-2019 season opens with Verdi's La Traviata on Jan. 25-27, followed by two productions conducted by Maestro Stern, Don Giovanni on Feb. 22-24, and Die Fledermaus on Mar. 22-24.
