For the first time, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is bringing a special preview production to the Treasure Coast.

Through a partnership with Abingdon at Traditionsm and Midnight Sun Bus Tours, the Theatre will host its first annual "Cultural Connection Season Preview," a free presentation for Treasure Coast civic and business leaders, as well as anyone interested in bringing groups to the not-for-profit regional theatre. The event - designed to give residents a sneak peek at the Theatre's upcoming season - will take place tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the dining room at Abingdon, an all-inclusive, luxury retirement community in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The evening will feature dinner and dancing, courtesy of Abingdon, and a special presentation of the world premiere and award-winning musical Academy, featuring actor Wilson Bridges. The show, created by the Theatre's artistic director Andrew Kato and composer John Mercurio, was accepted at last October's New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), where it won several awards, including the opportunity to be presented in July at South Korea's Daegu International Musical Festival. There, it won the top award for Best Musical, and cast members had the honor of ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ in New York upon their return to the U.S.

At the Abingdon event, Theatre leaders will discuss the Theatre's upcoming shows and announce a new, all-inclusive package option designed specifically for Treasure Coast groups: dinner, bus transportation to the Theatre and tickets to select season performances at reduced rates.

"As the Theatre grows, we want to continue to build our audience on the Treasure Coast and show the community all that we have to offer," said Jennifer Sardone-Shiner, the Theatre's marketing director. "We're excited to extend a package option to our friends in Port St. Lucie, Vero Beach and Jensen Beach, to provide a convenient way for our northern patrons to be engaged in the Theatre."

"As the largest award-winning regional theatre in South Florida, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is an asset to our community and an essential cultural organization to support," said Chris Collins, director of community relations at Abingdon. "We hope to be able to bridge any transportation barriers that would prevent residents from attending, as well as provide memorable experiences for groups in our area."
