Lyric Hosts The Burt Reynolds’ Institute for Film & Theatre Winter Showcase

By: Dec. 13, 2011

The Burt Reynolds' Institute for Film and Theatre Winter Showcase is set for Friday, January 13th, 2012 at 7:00 PM at The Lyric.

Mega star, Burt Reynolds returns to the Lyric Stage with the BRIFT Winter Showcase. Ten carefully chosen scenes from well-known plays directed by Mr. Reynolds and performed by his Master Class actors will highlight an evening of live theater. Master Class actors are professionals, who have honed their acting skills under Mr. Reynolds' expert tutelage.

This year's Showcase selections will feature some well-known comedies – a few of them dark comedies. Dark comedies portray the less desirable traits of human nature in a humorous vein. They force us to laugh at ourselves and our sometimes unrealistic and unattainable goals and dreams. In Act One the audience will chuckle at the ever present battle between the sexes and meet a woman whose fantasy life is far more rewarding than the real world.

In Act Two audience members will learn of the sometimes disastrous though hilarious results of placing a personal ad and peek in on an upper middle class couple whose life is suddenly turned upside down by the presence of unexpected and far too many houseguests.

Don't miss the BRIFT Winter Showcase...A warm way to spend an evening!
