He broke into the film world with Columbia Pictures' Hitch starring opposite Will Smith and went on to produce, co-write and star in the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Zookeeper and Here Comes The Boom. Due to the success of Columbia Pictures' blockbuster Grown Ups, James will once again be starring with Adam Sandler in Grown Ups 2 which will arrive in theaters this summer.

He is also the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and When You Are Engulfed in Flames, each of which became a bestseller. David Sedaris will deliver a 60-minute reading followed by 20-30 minutes of audience questions. There will be a book signing in the lobby area following the event.
