KINKY BOOTS' Billy Porter to Play the Colony Theater, 3/20-21
Billy Porter whose role as "Lola" shook up Broadway when he starred in "Kinky Boots" and took both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards as Best Actor in a Musical, has been nabbed by producers Matthew Lombardo and Rick Murray to wrap up their inaugural South Beach Broadway Series, Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21, at 8 P.M at the Colony Theater.
Scheduled to return to Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theater on April 28, Porter is the multi-gifted singer, composer, actor, playwright and director who also appeared in "Miss Saigon," "Five Guys Named Moe," and in the original cast of "Grease. " Major directorial credits include his critically acclaimed re-creation of "The Wiz," and the musical revue, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Music of Stevie Wonder" which starred Chaka Khan. Most recently Porter recorded "Billy's Back on Broadway," a nod to Sammy Davis, Jr's recording "Sammy's Back on Broadway," featuring ten classics made famous on the Great White Way.
