COMEDY COMBINES WITH MATTERS OF LOVE IN BELOVED CLASSIC MUSICAL 'HELLO DOLLY!' AT THE Jerry Herman RING THEATRE

April 22 - May 2, 2009

Classic Broadway musical comedy and the lyrical power of love are on the menu for one of America's most beloved and delightful musicals, soon to be showing at the University of Miami Jerry Herman Ring Theatre located at 1312 Miller Drive on the University of Miami's Coral Gables campus. Hello Dolly! is the ebullient and irresistible story of the joy of living, glittering with happy songs, brimming with joyous dancing, and alive with the personality of one of the most fabulous and memorable characters of the musical theatre stage - Dolly Gallagher Levi.

The play with lyrics and music by UM alum Jerry Herman (A.B., '53) features beloved songs such as Hello, Dolly!, Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Ribbons Down My Back, Before the Parade Passes By, Elegance, It Only Takes A Moment, and So Long, Dearie. Herman's Tony Award-winning musical promises to be the thrilling conclusion to the Ring's season.  The first Broadway show I ever saw was Hello Dolly! with Pearl Bailey and Cab Calloway.  It changed my life forever.  This show is a masterpiece.  Show dates are April 22 - 25, 29 - 30 and May 1 - 2 at 8pm, with matinees on April 25 - 26, and May 2 at 2pm.  Ticket prices for weeknights & matinees: Regular admission: $18; Seniors, UM faculty/staff/alumni: $16; Students: $8. Friday & Saturday nights: Regular admission: $22; Seniors, UM faculty/staff/alumni: $18; Students: $10. Hello, Dolly! will be performed in an arena, or "in-the-round," seating arrangement.

Tickets go on sale starting March 30 at noon. To purchase tickets, contact the box office Monday - Friday between 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at 305-284-3355.
