Great American Songbook: A Cabaret Series

New American Theater is excited to start a new series of cabaret performances, The Great American Songbook. The company will have several shows that highlight one or more of the well known composers, who's songs we all know and love.

Johnny Mercer is one of the foremost figures of The Great American Songbook. For nearly five decades, Mercer had a prolific career, writing 1,400 songs, nominated for 18 Academy Awards, and was one of the founders of Capitol Records. Johnny Mercer's poetic genius reflects the romantic yearnings, the wit, the energy, and the personality that is our America dream.

Mercer's classics will be brought to life in the intimate setting of the NAT BayWalk Cabaret. The show will feature Becca McCoy and Michael Raabe. Some of the songs in the show include: "Autumn Leaves", "Skylark", "Old Black Magic", "Come Rain or Come Shine", "The Dream's on Me"... Mercer's hit list is incomparable. You don't have to be old fashioned to let Mercer affect you - all you need is a heart.

The show runs March 4 & 5 at 8:00pm, and March 6 at 6:30pm. All tickets are $15 and are available online or at the door. General seating. Cash bar is available. Performance is held at New American Theater's BayWalk Center, located at 183 2nd Avenue N. For more information or to purchase tickets, you can go online at www.newamericantheater.org, or call the box office line at 727-575-9241.
