Funding Arts Broward Awards 25 Grants to Local Arts & Cultural Organizations

Funding Arts Broward (FAB!) recently announced 25 grants which it will be awarding in 2015 to a diverse representation of arts and cultural organizations in the county. The awards, totaling $195,300, were presented at FAB!'s annual event at the Tower Club.

"We are proud to be able to make this ongoing monetary commitment to help maintain a wide variety of arts in Broward County," said Elaine Blattner, recently elected FAB! President. Since 2003, FAB! has awarded more than two million dollars to more than 30 area arts organizations.

"Our mission is to enrich Broward County's arts community by funding high quality, Broward-based visual and performing art programming," she explained. "Since all of our activities are coordinated by volunteers who share a common belief that art and culture transcend individual differences in our society, they make an annual donation which helps support our common goals."

The 2015 recipient organizations and their funded projects include:

--Arts and Culture Center of Hollywood - Gonzalo Fuenmayor: Papare Series, $10,000
--ArtServe - ARTrepreneurs Short Play Festival, $10,000
--Association of Performing Arts of India - Celestial Sound of Sitar, $4,000
--Brazilian Voices - Brazilian Voices "From Brazil to the World," $5,000
--Broward Performing Arts Foundation - Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, $11,700
--Chameleon Musician - Virtuoso Vibrations, $4,500
--City Theatre - 21st Annual Summer Shorts: America's Short Play Festival, $4,000
--Coral Springs Museum of Art - Sandra Muss Artist Exhibition, $7,000
--Dinginn - Dinggin's Holiday Musicals, $1,000
--Fantasy Theatre Factory - Touring Theatre Outreach for Youth & Community Audiences, $7,800
--Florida Youth Orchestra - Spotlight Family Concert 2016, $7,500
--Florida's Singing Sons - Music for Family and Friends, $,6,400
--Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre - Cinderella, $7,000
--Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida - Season Six Concert Series, $6,000
--Girls' Club Foundation - Connecting Artists and Audiences, $7,500
--Gold Coast Jazz Society - 2016 Winter Season of Jazz, $7,500
--Inside Out Theatre Company - The Who's "Tommy," $4,500
--Miami City Ballet - Paul Taylor's Sunset, $12,000
--NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale - Bellisima: Italy and High Fashion 1945-68 from Maxxi Rome, $11,700
--Old Dillard Foundation - 2016 Cannonball Jazz Series, $4,500
--Seraphic Fire - 2016 Broward County Season, $11,000
--South Florida Symphony Orchestra - The Power, the Drama and the Joy, $7,250
--Symphony of the Americas - Symphony of the Americas Classics Events, $11,000
--The Girl Choir of South Florida - Harmony and Discord, $7,500
--Young at Art Museum - 2016 YAA Artist Collaborative, $11,700

Blattner added, "Every year, we look to supplement a wide array of community programs to keep the arts vibrant in the face of any cuts in government funding. FAB! is proud to make a difference for area residents of diverse ages, interests and cultures."
