Florida Studio Theatre Hits 10,000 Mainstage Subscriptions

By:

After a record-breaking start to the 2010-2011 season, Florida Studio Theatre has not stopped just yet. As of this morning, FST has sold 10,000 Mainstage subscriptions only one week after the season officially opened.

The high amount of sales on the Mainstage follows the success of the Cabaret earlier in November.

"Over the years, FST and its audience has evolved and expanded, growing more fervent in upholding the value of Contemporary Theatre," Artistic Director Richard Hopkins said. "Our belief that theatre must beaffordable and accessible to as many people as possible has created the FST of today: excellent theatre professionals engaging with experienced, intelligent audiences at a high capacity.

Excellent theatre plus af-fordable pricing equals a huge, diverse audience."This year, FST extended the run of each Cabaret and Mainstage show by one week, in anticipation of high ticket sales. With the additional performances, FST hit the 10,000 mark in the Mainstage in record time.FST's commitment to producing high quality theater at an affordable price has given way to the subscription audience growth. Florida Studio Theatre holds one of the largest subscription audiences in the nation, andis the highest attended theatre in the area.

The 2010-2011 Mainstage season opened on November 16 with the production of I Love You, You're Per-fect, Now Change, to rave reviews from the critics and audience alike. The musical revue about love and relationships is "entertaining" and "funny, tender... always intelligent" (Creative Loafing). The vignettes andsketches from dating, romance, marriage and beyond are "energetic and engaging" (Sarasota Herald-Tri-bune). Subscriptions to the Mainstage Season are still available for as little as $39. This year's Mainstage seasonincludes the witty and poignant I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; the theatrical tour-de-force The 39Steps; Race, the provocative legal drama from Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet; and the intel-ligent new play, Ghost-Writer, written by Opus playwright Michael Hollinger.

Single tickets for the Mainstage range from $19-$34.

Subscriptions and Single tickets may be purchasedfrom the FST Box Office in person or by calling (941) 366-9000 or now online at www.floridstudiotheatre.org.
