Parents' first opportunity to take advantage of this unique program is Friday October 10, 2008 with Tennessee Williams autobiographical classic, The Glass Menagerie, and Florida Rep is offering eight such nights throughout the season for each of its eight productions."How about a play date...for the parents?" says the Rep's Associate Director, Rachel Burttram. "We want people of all ages and demographics to enjoy live theatre, but sometimes having little ones can get in the way of mom and dad's social life."
While their parents see the play, children will take part in an interactive theatre workshop, enjoy a snack and games. The cost for Babysitting is $10 for children ages 4 to 11 with the purchase of two regular price tickets ($34/$38) to that evening's performance. The performance on each Babysitting Night begins at 8pm, and parents are welcome to drop youngsters off in Florida Rep's studio space at 7:30pm for an evening of interactive fun.Florida Rep's 2008-2009 Babysitting NightsThe Glass Menagerie Tennesess Williams' Timeless Classic Friday, October 10, 2008Born Yesterday A Great American Comedy Friday, November 7, 2008Indian Blood A Southeastern US Premiere & Touching Holiday Story Friday, December 5, 2008Dancing at Lughnasa A Tony-winning Best Play Friday, January 16, 2009Alone Together A Comedy Friday, February 20, 2009The Art of Murder Edgar Winner for Best Mystery Play Friday, March 27, 2009The Last Romance An Eastern US Premiere Friday, May 1, 2009Shirley Valentine Olivier Award Winning Best Comedy Friday, June 5, 2009"It's part of our mission to make Theatre accessible to everyone," Burttram finished, "and now young parents have no excuse to miss out on a night at the Theatre."
