Florida Grand Opera Receives Grant From Bank Of America Charitable Foundation

By:

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) today announced that it has been named a recipient of The Bank of America Charitable Foundation's 2016 Community Development grants. The grant is part of a $487,500 collective donation to support affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization in South Florida.

The funding will help low and moderate income individuals and families who are struggling access resources for affordable housing and create better living environments through community revitalization. It will also support organizations like museums, art institutions, zoos and performing arts centers that educate and enrich individuals through cultural experiences while serving as an economic driver revitalizing our communities. These elements lay the foundation for a stable financial life and, in turn, drive growth in Miami.

"To enjoy and learn from music, art and theater should be a right, not just a privilege," said Susan T. Danis, General Director and CEO of FGO. "We take part in strengthening our neighborhoods and our economy for the present day and the future through our adult and child education programs. That's why support from organizations like Bank of America is so critical to our continued progress. We greatly value their contribution both financially and through the investment of time and talent from their employee volunteers."

Florida Grand Opera's mission is to shape the future of opera and to connect diverse audiences through its power and beauty. To accomplish its mission, the company produces world-class opera, champions new works, builds new audiences, educates and engages its community, and nurtures the finest opera artists, artisans, and administrators of each generation. By doing so, FGO strengthens the cultural and economic vitality of the South Florida community. Bank of America's grant will help FGO specifically fund work force development and educational initiatives in support of this mission.
