Florida Studio Theatre unleashes the canine comedy, Sylvia, with a special doggie item donation drive benefitting the Humane Society of Sarasota County, along with puppy pals The New Barker Magazine and Wet Noses Boutique on St. Armands Circle.

Throughout the run of Sylvia, the four organizations are banding togetherto promote a good cause and the joy of owning a canine companion with a multi-pronged event. A special one-night-only VIPperformance and cocktail reception will honor the donation drive, on Wednesday, August 24, at Florida Studio Theatre.

Sylvia by A.R. Gurney is a hilarious canine fantasy about love and relationships.

After 22 years of marriage, Upper East Side empty-nesters Kate and Greg finally have time to work on their strained relationship -- that is until he brings home a flirtatiousstray mutt (played by an actress!). A lovable comedy, Sylvia takes us on a journey through the woes and joys of owning adog.

The Humane Society of Sarasota County, The New Barker Magazine, Wet Noses Boutique, and Florida Studio Theatre areworking together to put on this event, which includes several components: the doggie item drive, the "Sylvia Stories," and the VIP performance and cocktail reception. For more information and to set up interviews, please contact Danae DeShazer at ddeshazer@floridastudiotheatre.org, or please visit the following organization websites: Florida Studio Theatre, www.FloridaStudioTheatre.org
