The story: Catalina de Erauso was born in 1585 to a noble Basque family
in San Sebastián, Spain. When she was still young she escaped from her
convent and, assuming masculine attire, made her way to the New World,
where she led the rough-and-ready life of a seventeenth century
soldier.
