They came. They laughed. They cried. And then they told their friends.
That's the only explanation for a virtual sell-out of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's world premiere production of Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl.

"Audiences love our fresh take on the story of Fanny Brice," said Andrew Kato, the theatre's artistic director. "They appreciate its clever approach - using four actors to tell Brice's life story, as well as using her original songs.

"Ninety-seven percent of the seats have been sold for its 16-show run," Kato said.
The play with music, which explores Brice's personal triumphs and tragedies, was written especially for the Maltz Jupiter Theatre by David H. Bell, who incorporated many of the songs and skits that were a part of legendary comic's vaudeville and radio career.

Marya Grandy, previously seen at the theater in Smokey Joe's Café, stars as Brice, and has received universal praise from critics. "Marya virtually inhabits Fanny Brice's character," Kato said. "She has the look, the voice and the comedic timing."

Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl continues through Nov. 22. Tickets are $52 for orchestra seats and $45 for mezzanine for evening performances; matinees are $39 orchestra, $36 mezzanine. All Maltz Jupiter Theatre limited engagement and season production tickets are on sale now. Please call the box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit online at www.jupitertheatre.org.
