Broward Cultural Division Extends Deadline for County-Wide CALL TO CITIES to 5/4
Broward Cultural Division has extended the application deadline in a County-wide Call to Cities in which they are seeking the assistance of Broward cities and Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRAs) to identify specific, prominent, outdoor locations for nine or more murals and potential partnerships with public and private entities. Broward artists will be selected for this mural project through a unique partnership among Broward Cultural Division, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Community Foundation of Broward, in celebration of Broward County's centennial, Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community. All Broward cities are invited to apply for this Call to Cities and the application deadline has been extended to May 4 at 11:59 p.m.
Broward 100 will commemorate the centennial with bold, innovative art and performance projects that attract visitors and bring Broward residents together using our arts, sports and recreation venues, natural attractions and incredible diversity to creatively bridge, bond and build their communities. The yearlong celebration will be framed by four distinct cornerstones of community engagement: VisualEYES, Inside Out Broward, Calendar 100 and a culminating event. Broward 100 Mural Project is a component of VisualEYES; and its goal is to create murals that are located in all sectors of the community, that are a tribute to Broward County, and for the visual arts to be recognized as essential to a strong community. A minimum of one mural project will be implemented in each of the nine (9) County Commission Districts. Broward Cultural Division will manage the artist selection process through a separate Call to Artists. Murals will be applied to walls owned by a city, a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) or a private entity that is willing to contract with the County and allow the artwork to remain in place for a minimum of five (5) years and provide general maintenance to the site. The city will be responsible for holding the necessary community dialogues with the artist about the mural and possible creative workshops for community artistic participation.Videos
