Caldwell Finalized Casting For Secret Order: All Florida Cast

Caldwell Theatre Company has completed their casting for Bob Clyman's Secret Order and announced that joining South Florida's preeminent actor Gordon McConnell are Nick Duckhart-last seen at Caldwell in The Whipping Man, Howard Elfman-South Florida's favorite character man and Katie Cunningham-currently enrolled in the FSU- MFA program at Asolo Theatre.

Secret Order is the story of a brilliant young research biologist (William Shumway), working in an obscure university lab, discovering a possible cure for cancer. When the dynamic director of New York's leading research institute becomes his mentor and champion, he is set on a path of acclaim and prestige that could lead directly to the Nobel Prize. But the halls of science twist and turn in surprising ways, and the young doctor is suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of medicine, money and power.

"These are incredibly difficult roles to cast," stated Tom Bloom, Director of the Caldwell production, "particularly the role of Shumway (the brilliant young scientist) in that it demands an actor who can both play subservient to the actors around him, yet at the same time have the acting skills to handle the drama. Nick was the perfect choice."

Said Clive Cholerton, Artistic Director Caldwell Theatre. "Without question, the most difficult decisions after choosing the show, is casting it. Fortunately for those of us producing theater in South Florida, we have an ever expanding acting pool from which to draw. What is most comforting, is the diversity of the pool and the solidity of the talent. The future indeed is bright for South Florida theater."
