Bach Festival Society Announces 2nd Annual Summer Music Academy

By: Apr. 22, 2011

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park is pleased to once again offer the Summer Music Academy: Vocal Division, June 19-25, 2011, for students who have completed grades 9-12. The Summer Music Academy will offer students interested in Choir, Opera, or Musical Theater a rich variety of workshops, individual instruction, and performance

opportunities. Led by the Bach Festival Society's award-winning Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. John V. Sinclair, and Rollins Assistant Professor of Voice, Dr. Julia K. Foster, students will choose either the Musical Theater or Opera focus and engage with high-caliber artists throughout the week.

This summer will also bring an expansion to the Summer Music Academy offerings with a Brass Division led by Division Directors Chris Dolske and Carolyn Blice the week of June 12-17, 2011. For students completing grades 8-12, this day camp provides the opportunity to explore the possibilities of their brass instruments as they perform solo, small ensemble, and large brass ensemble repertoire; participate in special workshops; and hear professional musicians perform live. Guest instructors include Mike Roylance, tuba (Boston Symphony Orchestra), and Kerry Turner, horn (American Horn Quartet).
