BENISE THE SPANISH GUITAR Plays The Van Wezel 11/9

By: Oct. 27, 2010

BENISE and his Emmy Award-winning cast are bringing their new world music and dance production, The Spanish Guitar, to the VAN WEZEL PERFORMING ARTS HALL on Tuesday, November 9, at 8 p.m.
His PBS special lead to a critically acclaimed performance on "Dancing with the Stars." Now, BENISE is bringing his cast of world-class musicians and elaborately choreographed dancers to the Van Wezel for a live stage production of The Spanish Guitar-a celebration of culture, love, music and life.

A former street musician, BENISE began composing original works with powerfully emotional arrangements that are both wild and refined, producing a sound that is as edgy and striking as it is romantic and sensual. Receiving his first guitar at age eleven, he is completely self-taught. BENISE redefined the ordinary--mixing and mastering a variety of styles to create his own unique sound.
Dubbed "The Latin Riverdance," The Spanish Guitar is an epic tale. The soaring music and sumptuous production transports the audience to an exotic Parisian cafe, a Spanish tapas bar, an Arabian desert, a Venetian Masquerade ball and the cobblestone streets of Old Havana. With the help of an ever-changing multi-media set, incredible costumes and yes, BENISE'S infamous seductive charm, you will travel to the far ends of the earth on a quest with a handsome gypsy guitar-maker, in search of love and passion.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $50. For more information and to buy tickets, contact the Van Wezel Box office at
(941) 953-3368 or log onto www.vanwezel.org. This show is sponsored by Wilde Lexus of Sarasota.
