BEACH MAJOR SERIES Returns To Fort Lauderdale 2/27 - 3/4

BEACH MAJOR SERIES Returns To Fort Lauderdale 2/27 - 3/4 ImageFor the second consecutive year, Fort Lauderdale will welcome the season's first Beach Major Series event of the FIVB season when Olympic and World Champion pairs battle it out on the South Florida sand for a $600,000 prize purse, the highest prize total on the tour. The six-day tournament will last from February 27 - March 4, and will once again feature days packed with non-stop competition and remarkable night matches under the lights for the fans that visit the Red Bull Beach Arena.

Come February, fans can once again take advantage of VIP tickets and experiences including athlete-hosted charity events and high-end hospitality. Free admission for walkups will also be available, but will be first come first serve since many of the marquee matchups and night matches will see seats fill up fast. Spectators will also be able to hang out at Beach Village, a beachside area surrounding the stadium that will welcome fans with attractions, food trucks and parties.

This year's competition is sure to be fierce when dozens of the beach volleyball's most iconic and exciting duos try to bump, set and spike their way to gold medals. In 2017 it was a Brazilian-only affair atop the podium in Fort Lauderdale as upstarts Álvaro Filho/Saymon Barbosa (BRA) took the men's gold and female beach volleyball legends Larissa/Talita won the women's tournament. The American players will try and improve upon their 2017 showing that had Fort Lauderdale native Nick Lucena and his partner Phil "The Thin Beast" Dalhausser win bronze.

No matter what teams end up playing during finals weekend, the city of Fort Lauderdale can expect an incredible six days of world-class athleticism and electrifying stadium atmosphere, with the opportunity to catch all the action in style from the VIP area. Tickets are now on sale.

After winners are crowned in Florida, the Beach Major Series will continue its global tour during the summer of 2018.

2018 Beach Major Series Schedule:

February 27 - March 4 Fort Lauderdale Major, USA

July 10 - 15 Gstaad Major, SUI

July 31 - August 5 Vienna Major, AUT

August 14 - 19 TBD (World Tour Finals)
