Area Stage Company and Conservatory to Present SPRING AWAKENING

The Area Stage Company and Conservatory (ASC) in Miami is, according to the Sun Sentinel, "one of South Florida's most influential theater companies in South Florida". Founded and led by Artistic Director John Rodaz and Executive Artistic Director Maria Banda- Rodaz, the ASC will be producing one of the greatest musicals, Spring Awakening (Music by Duncan Sheik, Lyrics and Book by Steven Sater.) The play will be directed by the young Darius J. Manuel, who recently returned from the Broadway national tour of Elf the Musical. Darius is BroadwayWorld award winning Director and Choreographer for FLCT's Carrie the Musical.

The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical,Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a poignancy and passion that is illuminating and unforgettable. The landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock and roll that is exhilarates audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.

Darius will be tackling the play, based on the 1891 stage play by Frank Wedeking -an enlightening story in a tale of passion and unforgettable union to the path of discovery. The dynamic characters of the Rock and Roll musical come to life by the young talented actors of the ASC Conservatory.
