The Radiant by Tony-nominated playwright Shirley Lauro

New Theatre's landed acclaimed stage and film actress Angelica Torn to star in the World Premiere of The Radiant by Tony-nominated playwright Shirley Lauro, running March 25 - April 17, 2011. The Radiant is about the tempestuous love-torn life of Marie Curie, one of the world's first recognized woman scientists, whose discovery and isolation of radium earned her two Nobel Prizes and revolutionized science forever, as she ushered in "The Atomic Age" and the first cure for cancer.

Ms. Torn's performance in August: Osage County was hailed as revelatory by the Chicago Tribune. Her work has been described as "the genuine goods" (Variety); "pure magic" (New Zealand Herald); "devastating" and "superb" (London's Evening Standard); "relentlessly watchable" (Time Out New York); and "breathtaking" (TheatreMania). The New York Times hailed Torn as "commanding the stage from the moment she first speaks". The Los Angeles Times said that "Torn's performance is a privilege."

Angelica Torn received a Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress for her role in the Tony Award winning play Sideman at The Kennedy Center and was again nominated for the first national tour of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning August: Osage County. Her theater credits include: Edge (Outer Critics Nomination, New Times Award), Tony Award winning Sideman (Helen Hayes Award, FANY Award), The Bay at Nice (American Premiere), The Vagina Monologues, Albee's Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? (Carbonell Nomination), and the Tony Award winning revival of Anna Christie.
