The lights are shining brightly at The Orpheum Theatre again this year. While the economy continues to plague ticket sales at many attractions in the Mid-South, The Orpheum is maintaining and attracting new season subscribers for the 2010-2011 Broadway Series through new innovations and subscriber benefits.

"We listened to our patrons," said Pat Halloran, President and CEO of The Orpheum Theatre. "They have come to expect the more expensive blockbuster shows, yet they want the best value for their money. Their schedules are demanding, so they need flexibility, and they appreciate special perks and opportunities for enhanced theatre experienced. Our challenge was to provide all this without increasing prices"

For the 2010-2011 Broadway Season, The Orpheum has met customer expectation by including 5 show straight from Broadway; WICKED, Dolly Parton's 9 to 5, DREAMGIRLS, SHREK the Musical, and Mel Brooks YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Subscribers also have the option of adding THE COLOR PURPLE, Monty Python's SPAMALOT, and Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The Orpheum has kept ticket prices down and has even reduced the cost of the Tuesday night performance season ticket package by forty percent. "You can buy a season ticket to sit on the main floor for as little as $195.00 for all five shows," Halloran said.

To the list of subscriber perks, The Orpheum has added guaranteed pre-paid parking for just $7; a substantial savings as downtown parking prices normally ranging from $10 to $20. Other perks include a subscriber perks discount card, ticket exchange privileges, and subscriber pre-sale opportunities.

"Our priority pre-sales opportunities have proven to be one of our most important benefits," said Teresa Ward, Vice President of Sales. "Sixty-five percent of tickets to the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons concert were purchased by season ticket holder during their special pre-sale period. We expect similar results when Liz Minnelli goes on sale very soon.

This Friday, July 30th from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., the Orpheum will host a special open house that will allow patrons to come and "test drive" their seats before purchasing season tickets. The open house will also include an exclusive back stage tour which will be offered every hour. Those purchasing season tickets will receive ten tickets to be used for any of the movies in the Orpheum's Summer Movie Series, including THE WIZARD OF OZ, being show at 7:15 p.m., after the open house.

For more information on becoming a season ticket holder, please contact the Orpheum Theatre Box Office at (901) 525-3000 or visit the Orpheum ticket counter located at Davis-Kidd Booksellers. For more information regarding the Orpheum's Summer Movie Series, please visit www.orpheum-memphis.com.
