Penobscot Theatre Company to Host RACE TO THE STAGE 5K, 6/21

By:

Penobscot Theatre Company announces its second annual RACE TO THE STAGE, a 5K road race with a dramatic twist - runners in costume! The race will start at 9:00 am, Saturday June 21, in downtown Bangor. It is designed to promote healthy living and celebrate the central role of the theatre in our community.

"We started this tradition last year and drew nearly 100 participants, most of whom totally embraced the costume concept," said PTC's managing director Mary Budd. "This year, we're hoping to increase our numbers and ramp up the foolish fashion. The more outrageous the costume the better and, of course, participants' creativity will be rewarded!" Prizes will be awarded for best times and best costumes.

Walkers and leashed pets are welcome.

To register online, download a paper form, or get the most recent information about the route, visit PTC's website at www.penobscottheatre.org.

PTC's mission is to produce high-quality, professional theatre works and programs that inspire the imagination and cultivate a lifelong passion for the art form. For 40 years, PTC has served as the cultural cornerstone of downtown Bangor, an engine of creativity, intellectual stimulation, economic growth, and fun. The theatre's diverse educational and outreach programming - the largest and most far-reaching in the state - serves more than 7,000 students. Proceeds from the race will help fund these offerings.

PTC is partnering with UBS and two of its senior financial analysts who have committed to serving as star sponsors of the race. Other sponsors include Gilman Electrical Supply, Katahdin Trust Company, Marianne Lynch, Esq. and Dr. Robert W. Hand, MD, Northland Bark and Mulch, Verve Burritos, and Wilcox Wellness and Fitness. Sponsorship opportunities remain for individuals and businesses who wish to support the theatre through this distinctive event.
