The multi-award winning and Tony nominated actor and singer, Euan Morton, will perform for one night only as a fundraiser for Maine State Music Theatre on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009. The evening will begin at 7:30PM with a reception held at Moulton Union on the campus of Bowdoin College and will then move to Studzinski RecitAl Hall in Kanbar Auditorium around 8:15PM for the concert with Morton. Proceeds from the concert will go to repair the roof of MSMT's administration and rehearsal building on Elm Street in Brunswick. The event is sponsored by Hahnel Bros. Company and presented with assistance from Downeast Energy and Building Supply. Tickets are $100 per person and available by calling (207) 725-8769 or by visiting the MSMT Box Office at 22 Elm Street in Bunswick, Maine.

Called "sensational" by the New York Times, Morton is most known for his portrayal of the eighties icon, Boy George, in the musical Taboo that opened in London and moved to Broadway, gaining Morton nominations for both Lawrence Olivier and Tony Awards. Morton also won a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performer on Broadway for that role. More recently, Morton received the coveted Obie Award for starring in Measure for Pleasure at The Public Theater and starred in the title role in Tony Kushner's Brundibár at The New Victory Theatre. Currently, Morton is performing sold out concerts across the United States and is starring in Into the Woods at Kansas City Repertory Theatre. He also released his debut album, NewClear, in 2006. Samples from the album and additional information about his career can be found on his website euanmorton.com.

This fundraiser will mark the end of Maine State Music Theatre's 2009 season. The 2010 season will include the musicals My Fair Lady and Monty Python's Spamalot. Other titles currently being considered are Always Patsy Cline, Chicago, Evita, a new musical version of Treasure Island, and Irving Berlin's White Christmas. A possible concert version of the well-known musical sensation, Rent, is also being considered for June 2010. Season tickets are on sale now at discounted early bird prices.
