Highlands Latin Schools Drama Troupe presents Its a Wonderful Life.George Baileys life is far different than he had imagined it would be, and he thinks he has more than his fair share of troubles. George isnt a praying manat least not until an hour of desperation when he has no one else to turn to. And he is not the only one praying. On Christmas Eve, 1945, a crescendo of prayers for George from family and friends rises to heaven from Bedford Falls, New York. "The Boss" hears the prayers and calls Georges guardian angel, Clarence, into action. Clarence is ready to do his best work on this assignment in hopes of finally getting his wings.After reviewing Georges life to get a clearer picture of his past, Clarence comes to Earth and allows George to experience an alternative timeline. George sees what Bedford Falls would be like if he had never been born. Clarence shows him that each mans life touches so many other lives and when he is not around, it leaves an awful hole. At the end of this experience George prays again, but this time he begs God to give him the chance to live again.This play is based on the short story The Greatest Gift (1943), written by Philip Van Doren Stern. In 1946 it was made into an American Christmas fantasy and drama film, produced and directed by Frank Capra. One of Americas favorite Christmas traditions is to relive this beloved story. Invite your friends and neighbors to the show to see more than 70 HLS students and staff bring this story to life on the stage.
