Actors Theatre of Louisville Announces Apprentice/Intern Company's Solo Mio #2

Actors Theatre of Louisville's Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein are pleased to announce the second in a three-part series of Solo Mios featuring solo work written and performed by members of the Acting Apprentice Company. Solo Mio #2, runs October 16 at 2 p.m. and October 17 at 10 a.m. in the Victor Jory Theatre. All performances are FREE and open to the public, but reservations are required. Solo Mios is part of a full season of shows, focusing entirely on new works produced and performed by Actors Theatre's Apprentice/Intern (A/I) Company. Solo Mios showcase solo pieces written and performed by each of the 20-member Acting Apprentice Company in collaboration with a director and dramaturg. Solo Mio #2 will feature performances by Mbali Guliwe, Austin Blunk, Esaú Mora, Glenna Brucken, Mike T. Brown, Hannah Karpenko and Amelia Windom.

The Apprentice/Intern Company season of new works continues this fall with The Wedding Guest by Steve Moulds, Lost Weekend by Brendan Pelsue and Solo Mio#3. The final Solo Mio in the series runs on November 6 at 2:00 p.m. and November 7 at 10:00 a.m. Solo Mio #3 will feature work written and performed by Lisa Bol, Alex Hernandez, Yaron Lotan, Jayson Speters, Sara Turner, Kyle Whalen and Park Williams.

Now in its 44th year, and currently under the direction of Michael Legg, the Apprentice/Intern Company is one of the nation's foremost training programs. Annually, Actors Theatre auditions and interviews more than 2,000 artists, artisans and administrators. This year, 20 apprentices and 19 interns were selected for the highly-coveted spots in this program at the Tony Award-winning theatre and home of the Humana Festival of New American Plays. Designed to serve as a bridge between undergraduate study and a professional career, members of the company receive world-class training from some of the most accomplished theatre professionals in the country.
