Sacred Noise Unknown (SNX) is a new LA-based musical collective founded by Duain Richmond, known internationally for portraying Fela Anikulapo Kuti in the Broadway production FELA!. The ensemble draws from Afrobeat, Afrobeats, highlife, jazz, funk, and the broader African diaspora, functioning as a contemporary creative community rather than a tribute act. The debut lineup features Marcos Garcia on guitar, Tosin Aribisala on drums, Greg Bryant on bass, Lidia Rodriguez on tenor saxophone, Roberto Navarro on percussion, and singers and dancers Aimée Wodobodé and Lily Ogé, with musical direction by Leah Concialdi. The performance takes place as part of the inaugural LA Jazz Festival, described as the largest Black-owned jazz festival in the world, running August 7–23 and expecting over 250,000 attendees.
