From Emmett Till to SNCC & Beyond: Words + Music + Art features a collective of performance and visual artists commemorating the 70th anniversary of Emmett Till's murder and the 65th anniversary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Award-winning performance artist Gia Scott-Heron will perform selections from Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology, alongside contributions from notable figures such as SNCC member Peggy Trotter Dammond Preacely and Freedom Rider David Crittendon. The event will encompass live performances, multimedia presentations, and notable artworks, all intertwined to honor pivotal moments in Civil Rights history. Directed by Phylliss Bailey Brooks, the evening represents the third edition of an artist collective series focused on Emmett Till's legacy.
