Dancing with Demons at The Hudson Theatre (Guild Space)

Written and performed by Richard Velazquez, directed by Allan Wasserman, with dramaturgy by Christopher Moncayo-Torres, receiving its world premiere at the Hudson. The roughly sixty-minute evening is built from three pieces: Just Another Demon, about a Jehovah's Witness childhood on the Lower East Side surrounded by the drug trade; Nancy, an award-winning centerpiece about a teenager finding freedom on a dance floor; and Mindful Mijo, which closes the night with Velazquez addressing the audience directly. The show is followed by a ten-minute talkback with the artist.
