'blue13' Dance Co. Makes Holiday Debut at Dorothy Chandler Celebration 12/24

blue13 dance company, the critically acclaimed Bollywood-Tech organization led by Achinta S. McDaniel, Artistic Director and Choreographer, will make their debut at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center as part of The 49th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration being presented on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. blue13 dance company will perform at 5:15 p.m. that day in a World Premiere piece choreographed by Achinta S. McDaniel, entitled "Diya Aur Toofan" ("The Lamp and the Storm").

McDaniel explains, "‘Diya Aur Toofan' is a Bollywood take of the Tchaikovsky's ballet, ‘The Nutcracker.' blue13's ‘Diya Aur Toofan' will feature two original pieces of music, ‘Nightmare' and ‘Welcome To Dreamland,' both written by composer Tej Gill." The cast of dancers will include: Achinta S. McDaniel as Princess Chandini; Arun Mathai as Prince Surya; Kory Keith as The Sugar Plum Fairy and Marisa Cleghorn as The Empress Ravan. Other dancers in the ensemble include: Daniel Valentine, Tammie Johnston, Andrew Zutta, Jody Thipen, Nicole Harris, Jeanine Aberbook, Symone Harris and Natasha Neufeld.

The 49th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration is a free six-hour spectacular featuring 45 groups and 1, 200 performers. The live show will also be telecast on KCET-TV. The show is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and produced by the Long Angeles County Art Commission.
