The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, in Topanga, CA, has announced its 2007 Summer Repertory Season. The four main stage plays set for the season include Shakespeare's The Tempest (June 3 - September 30); and the returning A Midsummer Night's Dream (June 9 - July 21 and Sept 2 - 30); Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit (June 30 - September 29); and the world premiere of Ellen Geer's adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula (July 28 - September 29).

In the press release, Artistic Director Ellen Geer comments, "In choosing the season, we look for classic works that address the human condition in a timeless way, but each of these plays is also perfect for the Theatricum's unique forest setting."

In addition to the aforementioned plays, which run on a rotating basis so that when all four are running it is possible to see all of them in one weekend, Theatricum will host family plays and concerts on weekends with Creative PlayGround and Peter Alsop's Kids Koncerts. These performances, "Family Fundays" take place every Sunday and two Saturday mornings at 11 am, June 3 - October 28 (except July 29).

Other Theatricum programs include Sundays in August, which offers two, Inara George-hosted musical evenings, A Tribute to Lowell George on Sunday, August 19; and A Tribute to Bessie Smith on Sunday, August 26. Also, Botanicum Seedlings: A Development Series for Playwrights, features readings of new works on select Sundays, taking place in the intimate, 99-seat outdoor space the S. Mark Taper Youth Pavillion. Admission is free, and reading dates are Sundays June 3, 10 & 17 at 11am and November 4 & 11 at noon.

Founded by Will Greer (Grandpa on TV's "The Waltons") in the 1950's and currently run by his family, the Theatricum Botanicum
is a recipient of the Margaret Harford Award for 'sustained excellence,' the Los Angeles Critics Circle's highest honor. The theatre is located at 1419 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., midway between Pacific Coast Highway and the Ventura (101) Freeway.  Being that the amphitheaters are terraced into the hillside, audience members are advised to dress casually and bring cushions for bench seating.
