Welsh-Born Concert Organist to Perform On World's Largest Church Pipe Organ, 2/2

On Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 3 p.m., world-renowned concert organist Carol Williams will perform various compositions on the world's largest church pipe organ in a free concert at the historic First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (540 South Commonwealth Avenue).

From a young age, Dr. Carol Williams was able to read music before she could read English. Her first formal musical training began with a five-year stint at the Royal Academy of Music. Throughout her career, she has received numerous prestigious awards and fellowships, and has performed worldwide in venues such as St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, the Washington National Cathedral, Riverside Church, and Westminster Abbey, among many others.

She will perform on The Great Organs of First Church, housed in the Gothic Sanctuary of First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. Her exciting program will include music of Philip Glass, Max Reger and Charles Tournemire, along with several Jazz pieces and a suite for organ composed by Dr. Williams, herself.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Carol Williams to First Church and to have her be a part of our 44th Annual Organ Concert Series," exclaimed Senior Minister Dr. R. Scott Colglazier. "For years, people have requested that we include her in our concert season, so it is wonderful that it has finally worked out to have her as one of our artists this year. Her talent is recognized around the world, and we are happy to be able to share her music with the Los Angeles community."

The Saturday, February 2nd Organ Concert is free to the public and open to all. To learn more about the 44th Annual Organ Concert Series, or for more information about First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, please visit www.fccla.org.
