Urie, Parrish, Murney and More Sing at Joe's Pub For LA's Upright Cabaret's NYC Debut 1/11

By:

On January 11, 2009 at 11:00pm, L.A.'s Upright Cabaret makes their New York City debut featuring a lineup of talent that includes Ugly Betty's Michael Urie and Spring Awakening/Weeds star  Hunter Parrish, and directed by Upright's new Resident Director and Broadway/Recording star Billy Porter at Joe's Pub.

Southern California Producer/Hosts Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel along with Music Director Chris Bratten  present a weekly roster of young Broadway and Hollywood singing and relaxing in a hip and stylish enclave.

Upright Cabaret will host a very special New York edition of their cabaret as a showcase for APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters).

Scheduled performers include The Broadway Boys, Andrea Burns (Broadway: In the Heights, Beauty and the Beast, Full Monty, off-Broadway: Songs for a New World), Gavin Creel (Broadway: Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hair, La Cages aux Folles, West End: Mary Poppins), Spencer Day, Tim Draxl, Audra Mae, Patina Miller (off-Broadway: Hair, Romantic Poetry, West End: Sister Act), Julia Murney (Broadway: Wicked, Lennon, Hair - the concert, off-Broadway: Wild Party), Hunter Parrish (Weeds, Broadway: Spring Awakening), Valarie Pettiford (Broadway: Tony Nominee - Fosse, West End: Chicago, UPN's Half and Half), Jessica Phillips (Broadway: Scarlet Pimpernel, Jesus Christ Superstar), Billy Porter (Broadway: Miss Saigon, Grease), Marni Raab (Broadway: Phantom of the Opera), Julie Reiber (Broadway: Wicked, All Shook Up, Brooklyn), Ken Robinson, Katie Thompson, Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Rema Webb (Broadway: Lion King) and more!

Upright Cabaret began in Los Angeles in April of 2005 when producer/hosts Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel bought an upright piano on Craigslist, borrowed a speaker and microphone from a guy in Venice Beach and begged a few of their talented friends to sing, drink and be merry. Since that standing room only inaugural engagement, Upright Cabaret has featured cast members from over 75 Broadway shows as well as stars from Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Cold Case, How I Met Your Mother, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, House, Nip/Tuck and countless other film and television productions.
