Jennie Fahn's one-woman show, UNDER THE JELLO MOLD, has been awarded the Pick of the Fringe award.

Pick of the Fringe is awarded by anonymous judges/audience members that choose five shows weekly out of the over three-hundred-seventy-five shows in the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The award is sponsored by Combined Artform & Fringe Management and is modeled after a similar award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. The chosen award winners then perform a segment of their show in a special presentation performance for audience. In the past four years of presenting Pick of the Fringe, many of the Pick of the Fringe shows have gone on to win major awards, including several Encore winners.

"It's a great honor to be named Pick of the Fringe," says Jennie Fahn, "There are literally hundreds of shows here at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and to be singled out from so much talent is really amazing. I have been blown away by the creative energy of the Fringe community, so to be acknowledged like this is really special. It is certainly a nice recognition of the work that we put into the show so far and great incentive to keep working to make it better and better."

Produced by James & Tom Cavanaugh, four year veterans of the Hollywood Fringe Festival, UNDER THE JELLO MOLD is directed by Tom who explained "I knew when I saw Jennie Fahn perform a monologue from the show at We Make Movies (A weekly development workshop and film collective in Hollywood), I knew that UNDER THE JELLO MOLD would do well at Hollywood Fringe and would be popular with audiences, but I never imagined this! It's great to see Jennie's talent being recognized!"

UNDER THE JELLO MOLD is Jennie Fahn's one-woman show about how she dealt with her very colorful character of a mother during what turned out to be the final act of her life. Jennie's mother was a force to be reckoned with: a former dancer, never content to merely rehash her past, there was always a story to be embellished, always a name to drop, and always a lesson to teach. From the inevitability of aging, to criminal acts, to life-changing decisions, Jennie survived the onslaught by finding comedy in every possible tragedy. If anyone could make something ridiculous out of the banal, it was certainly her mom; particularly when it came to where she hid the instructions for what to do in case of her death. Told in anecdotes, characters, and even a little song, the show is full of laughs and a lot of heart. In addition, in an unexpected twist, Jennie learns that her mom had more than just burial instructions hidden UNDER THE JELLO MOLD...
