Theatre Planner's DADDY Extended thru 4/10 at Hudson Mainstage

By:

Theatre Planners has extended the West Coast premiere of DADDY by Dan Via through April 10, 2011. When "golden boy" Colin falls for a man half his age, the result is a climactic confrontation with best friend Stew that will forever change their lives. The romantic drama by first-time playwright Dan Via, who stars alongside CSI regular and "OUT 100" actor Gerald McCullouch and Ian Verdun, has universal appeal. Gay and straight critics alike are praising the performances, the direction by Rick Sparks, and the compelling story that explores the many facets of relationships, throwing in a few surprises along the way.

Similar to the New York production, the Los Angeles production has received rave reviews being called "an emotional powder keg" by The Los Angeles Times; "genuinely involving" by Variety; "insightful and deeply affecting" by BackStage and The LA Weekly says, "GO!... builds to a startling finale... finely nuanced performances." Broadway World commented on the original production that "Dan Via has taken a bold step in playwriting by writing a sensitive and hilarious play about adult Gay men which isn't insulting to the intelligence of his audience. His characters live and breathe as real people, rather than the tired stereotypes so often seen in today's plays-with-homosexual-themes."

The plays stars Gerald McCullouch, who was lauded by GregInHollywood as "the sexiest man alive" and recently honored by OUT magazine as one of the "most compelling people of 2010". RadarOnLine conducted an exclusive interview with McCullouch announcing Daddy's final extension (http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2011/02/exclusive-interview-csi-star-gerald-mccullouch-a-rebel-with-a-cause) and the actor gave acknowledgement to the "It Get's Better Broadway" Campaign (http://www.ItGetsBetterBroadway.com) and mentioned that there was interest in a film version of the play.

Tickets to all performances are $30. The Hudson Mainstage is located at 6539 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood, CA 90038. For reservations and information, call 323-960-7738 or go to www.plays411.com/daddy.
