The SRS Production Wing Dives into Dark Comedy with MR. MARMALADE

By:

The NoHo - based company's freshman season continues with Noah Haidle's 2005 hit nd On March 2, the SRS Production Wing will roll out the next show in its premiere season with " Mr. Marmalade, " by Noah Haidle.

Directed by Aubree Bowen on the Stuart Rogers ' Studios stage, the play st will run on Fridays and Saturdays through March 31. Following its award - winning run of Sarah Treem's " a feminine ending " ( Best Play, 2017 NoHo Fringe Festival ), the SRS Production Wing carries on Theatre Tribe's nationally recognized legacy of story - driven intimate theatre.

" Mr. Marmalade " is a disturbingly dark and cuttingly witty comedy about childhood, imagination, and the escape from desperate circumstances. Focusing on a four - year - old girl, her not - altogether - helpful imaginary friend, and the dysfunction of the world around her, Mr. Haidle's text gives ample opportunity to mine for uncomfortable giggles, genuine gut laughs, and surprising moments of pathos. In choosing a play that requires its company to be as nimble as it is profound, the SRS Production Wing is excited to present six talented actors ( playing ten very different characters ) in a biting and whimsical exploration of the joys, creativity, and terrors of childhood.

In her direction of this " smart, incredibly dark comedy, " Bowen aims to explore the " the loss of innocence and also what it means to be lonely, even as a kid. " At a time when many of our socially assumed boundaries seem to be blurring, Bowen focuses the audience's attention on the " many outside factors [ that ] shape us into the people we become, and ... how our beliefs are shaped before we're even really aware what beliefs ARE. " If " a world that blurs between reality and imaginary " sounds uncomfortably familiar in 2018, then audiences are in for a night of wincing laughter and gut - wrenching twists and turns. nd st "

Mr. Marmalade " will run from March 2 to March 31 at Stuart Rogers ' Studios ( 5267 Lankershim th Blvd., North Hollywood, 91601 ). Shows start at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays ( excluding March 17 ).
