The Ross Valley Players/RAW - Ross Alternative Works presents its fifth season of readings of works in progress.

Ross Valley Players continues its RAW - Ross Alternative Works Stage Readings series featuring The Alchemist written by Michelle Lein and directed by Cris Cassell.

"The Alchemist," a fantasy drama about celebrated playwright, Arthur Miller. It begins in 1966 and examines Miller's decision to deny his infant son, Daniel, diagnosed with Down syndrome.

The play examines the personal conflict between Arthur Miller's public persona as a moralist, his private reality and how Miller may have been affected by going against his own personal code.

Miller never acknowledged his son Daniel's existence, not even in his autobiography.

Lein's play has been chosen as a Semifinalist in the prestigious 2009 Beverly Hills Theatre Guild / Julie Harris Playwright Award Competition.

A discussion with playwrights follows the readings.
