The Grove Theatre announces the opening of Godspell, a powerful musical with a message of kindness, tolerance and love for all people. Directed by Julio Villegas and Ginger Kinison, Godpell opens tonight, April 5th at 7:29 pm and runs on weekends through April 21st.

Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, Godspell has numerous well-loved Grammy Award winning songs, set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with choreography done by Julio Villegas (most recently HAIR and West Side Story at The Grove). One of the biggest Off-Broadway successes of all time, Godspell is a unique reflection of a community working together to build a beautiful city of hope for our society.

Opening off Broadway on May 17, 1971, Godspell has become a timeless hit, revisited often because of the joyful music and comic antics used to tell the parables of the New Testament. A story about building communities and how communities can go forward by sharing joy, music and stories with others, the revival played on Broadway from October 13, 2011 to June 24, 2012.

Tickets are $25 and $20, with group, senior and student discounts, and can be purchased by calling (909) 920-4343, or by visiting The Grove box office or website at www.grovetheatre.com. The Grove Theatre is located at 276 E. Ninth Street, Upland, Calif.

Box Office Hours (except holidays): Monday - Friday 11:30 am - 4:00 pm, Saturday 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.
