With performances now through December 22nd, Teatro Nuevos Horizontes' West Coast Regional Premiere of the 2008 Tony Winner for Best Musical and Best Score IN THE HEIGHTS continues at Casa 0101 in Boyle Heights at 2102 E. 1st. Street, Los Angeles, Calif., playing Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The story explores three days in the characters' lives in the New York City Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights. It revolves around the Usnavi, a young bodega owner who dreams about going to the Dominican Republic, his parents homeland; Abuela Claudia, the matriarch and heart of the barrio; Vanessa, Usnavi's love interest who dreams of getting out of the barrio and getting an apartment downtown, but can't afford it; Nina Rosario, the daughter of car service owners Kevin and Camila, who goes to Stanford University, but returns home with difficult news to tell her parents and Benny, a non-Spanish speaking African-American member of the neighborhood who falls in love with Nina and finally Daniela, the outrageous owner of the salon where the neighborhood girls gossip.

For five years, Teatro Nuevos Horizontes, the premier Latino musical theatre group producing IN THE HEIGHTS has been providing fine arts programs to over 10,000 youth and families. Programs include excellence in the arts, theatre production, marketing development, costuming and character development, life skills, arts, fitness and recreation, technology, community engagement, and entertainment for the community.
