TWO FIGURES Opens at Powerhouse Theatre, 5/28

By:

The Ahimsa Collective, sticking to their boundary-pushing, no-holds-barred style, is back at the Powerhouse Theatre with a drama about fantasy, sexuality, adolescence, and art. Written by playwright Matthew Chester and directed by Matt Schwartz, TWO FIGURES features a creative team whose bold styles match the audacious subject matter. The cast includes Ahimsa Collective in-house talents Bethany Esfandiari, Madeline Harris, and Noah Silverstein, as well as newcomers Miles Marsico and Bryan Mckinley.

The Ahimsa Collective, never content to produce a piece of traditional theater, has collected hundreds of sexual fantasies from friends and strangers, received anonymously through their website. These submissions have been given to fourteen inventive, young, and unique visual artists, who have chosen their favorites to inspire new pieces of art. The Powerhouse?s outdoor deck will be transformed into a one-of-a-kind gallery, where audience members, treated to champagne and ?nger foods, will not only view over twenty original pieces, but also get the opportunity to read all of the other submissions - and maybe even submit their own.

TWO FIGURES runs May 28 - June 20, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tickets start at $7 when purchased in advance at www.powerhousetheatre.com and $20.00 at the door. The Powerhouse Theatre is located at 3116 2nd Street in south Santa Monica, just off Main Street between Rose and Marine. Guests in wheel chairs should call in advance to make arrangements.

Spreading non-violence through the abundance of art, The Ahimsa Collective is devoted to sharing all kinds of work with the world and creating communities thriving with creativity. They employ a highly collaborative exploratory process culminating in both individual and joint performance pieces. They create an array of boundary-pushing, innovative work, including site-speci?c, radical deconstructions of classics, completely original clown shows, world premieres of new works toured throughout SoCal living rooms, and more.
