THE SHOUT Gets World Premiere at El Portal Theatre September

By: Aug. 30, 2016

On September 22, 2016, the El Portal Theatre welcomes the world premiere of Yusuf Nasir's experiential dance concert, THE SHOUT which comes off the heels of a highly successful workshop run in Hollywood earlier this year. The former professional dancer with Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus Nasir makes his directorial and choreographic debut with his very first full length original dance production. The production plays September 22-25 with 8:30 pm curtain. The historic El Portal Theatre is located at 5269 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, Ca.

Executive produced by John Wusah, THE SHOUT takes a bold look inside the human mind and explores the unresolved grey areas of madness, addressing past and present social and cultural issues. THE SHOUT aims to resonate with the individual mindset of each viewer, a personalized confrontation of the private, repressed emotions we trap within ourselves that keep us all dancing on the line between sane and insane.

Set to the incredible sounds of Swedish house music, with genre bending alternative, R&B and pop, THE SHOUT offers a dynamic dance performance fusing numerous styles, techniques and genres and features 21 of Los Angeles' most celebrated and brilliant up and coming young dance artists.

"I'm inspired by the talented dancers in Los Angeles and am thrilled to present my original dance production to this thriving community, especially at such a perfect venue as the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood," states Nasir.

The production will run September 22-25, 2016 with 8:30 Curtain
