The following additional concerts are confirmed as part of the 2009/10 season at Walt Disney Concert Hall:
Walt Disney SYMPHONIC LEGACYTuesday, October 20, 2009
8 p.m.
$42 - $125Curated and conducted by John Mauceri, the Disney Symphonic Legacy series brings into focus the connection between the inspiration of music and the heritage of Walt Disney's legendary films. In the first of what is hoped to be a series of concerts celebrating decades of music from the Disney canon, an evening of material has been arranged to reinterpret some of Disney's most beloved stories in completely new ways. The first of two acts will consist of pieces by composers such as Tchaikovsky, Danny Elfman, Elton John, Hans Zimmer and Lebo M. Mauceri will narrate and put into context not just the history of each composer's works but also its use as inspiration for the films in which it appears. Simultaneously, other elements will give a glimpse into the creative process: choral vocals, and costume designs and production renderings from famous live-action films combine to create a multi-dimensional experience.
