Sandra Piller Goes Bi-Coastal with Shows at the Gardenia in Hollywood and the Metropolitan Room in New York

By:

Audiences attending the show entitled "Sandra Piller Sings More Hit Parade Music of Ruth Roberts" will hear songs from the Hit Parade that were chart-toppers for such artists as Dean Martin, the McGuire Sisters, Buddy Holly, Patti Page, Jimmy Dean, Lawrence Welk, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and others.

"Songs written by Ruth Roberts have been huge hits for an exciting variety of artists," notes Piller, "and I'm very proud to have had such a talented mother-in-law. Some of her songs are heard every season by sports fans across the country, while others are considered part of the Great American Songbook. Many originally debuted on the Hit Parade, the precursor to the Billboard charts, as well as in movies and TV shows," Piller states.

"When I was first doing country music, Ruth gave me some of her country cuts to sing," Sandra says. "There was 'The First Thing Ev'ry Morning,' recorded by Jimmy Dean, as well as Patti Page's 'Same Old You' and Martha Carson's 'Get on the Heavenly Road,' a great gospel song," Piller notes.

Ruth Roberts composed songs in a wide variety of genres. "There have been so many wonderful songs from Ruth Roberts," Piller says, shaking her head in admiration. "Dean Martin sang 'All in a Night's Work' from the film of the same name. Buddy Holly recorded 'Mailman Bring Me No More Blues' and then The Beatles also recorded it. At this new show, you'll hear hits from motion pictures, television, radio, and the whole history of American song," Piller adds.

Sandra Piller's music career began with a legend, Sun Records icon and country music producer Cowboy Jack Clement, with whom she signed her first single song contract as a songwriter. For the past several years she has collaborated with Nashville songwriting pro Jane Bach (Reba McEntire, Collin Raye, JoDee Messina). Sandra was named "Best New Female Country Artist of 2009" by New Music Weekly, who honored her again as "Best Female Country Artist of 2010." Her single, "I Cross That Bridge," was #1 on the NMW Country music charts for three straight weeks. Sandra's latest EP, "Sandra Piller Sings the Hit Parade Music of Ruth Roberts, Vol. 2" is being released this month.

The Sandra Piller cabaret shows are: (1) Thursday July 7 at The Gardenia, 7066 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90038, 323-467-7444, doors 7pm, show 9pm, $15 cover; and (2) Saturday, July 16 at The Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd St, NY 10010, 212-206-0440, doors 12:30pm, show 1pm, $24 general admission.
