Ray Jessel Comes To Arthur Newman Theatre at The Joslyn Center July 31
Ray Jessel to make Palm Dessert appearance on July 31st with Songs From The Ridiculous To The Romantic By Ray Jessel
"Ask anyone from New York City or Los Angeles that is in the know, who Ray Jessel is? And nine out of ten will say, "He's the funniest guy you'll ever see. See him once and you will never forget him, or such songs as "Life Sucks And Then You Die", or "Oxnard" the town named after an ox, you get the picture. Ray makes a rare desert appearance at The Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert on July 31st at 2 PM as part of the Life Is A Cabaret Series presented by Les Michaels."
Mr. Jessel was the last lyricist to work with Richard Rodgers and was co-composer and lyricist of the Broadway musical, Baker Street based on Sherlock Holmes. Such notables as Sammy Davis, Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Durante, Richard Burton, Vikki Carr, Michael Feinstein, John Pizzarelli and Karen Akers have recorded Jessel's songs.Ray made his cabaret debut in 2002, and since played to sell-out performances throughout the US and Canada. He was a featured star in the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Convention in Palm Springs' Annenberg Theatre and, more recently, at New York's Town Hall where, says the Hollywood Reporter, he "brought down the house" on opening night. He is also the recipient of several highly coveted MAC Awards given to outstanding national cabaret artists.
The Sunday, July 31st matinee performance will begin at 2 PM with doors opening at 1 PM. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10, cash only with complimentary wine.
