By:

Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre presents a special engagement of Disneynature's all-new film "Monkey Kingdom," today, April 17 - 30, 2015. Set among the ancient ruins and jungles of South Asia, "Monkey Kingdom" features a smart monkey named Maya, who will do anything for her newborn son Kip. Before every screening of the movie, Wildlife Learning Center will showcase exotic animals from around the world. Scroll down for stills from the film!

"Earth Day is always very special at the El Capitan," said James Wood, operations and stage productions for The El Capitan Theatre. "We are working with Conservation International on a program that invites El Capitan guests to see the film during opening week [April 17-24, 2015], and Disneynature will make a contribution to Conservation International to help protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats."

Daily showtimes are 10 a.m., 12:35 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. (Fri and Sat only). Tickets are on sale now, and available at the El Capitan Theatre (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), online at www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6. Special group rates for parties of 20 or more are available by calling 1-818-845-3110. Show times subject to change.

The El Capitan Theatre will also host a very special Tiny Tot Tuesday every Tuesday at 10 a.m. during the run of "Monkey Kingdom." During these special screenings, parents and small children may enjoy the movie in a tot-friendly way -- with lights dimmed rather than out and reduced sound levels.

ABOUT THE MOVIE - Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in "Monkey Kingdom," Disneynature's new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya's world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya's has more than its share of colorful personalities-and she's determined to give her son a leg up in the world. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya's whole family is forced to relocate, where she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to lead them to untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings. Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son's future. Featuring a rich cast of characters, including a mischievous mongoose, simple-minded langur monkeys, predatory leopards and monitor lizards, "Monkey Kingdom" is directed by Mark Linfield ("Chimpanzee," "Earth") and co-directed by Alastair Fothergill ("Chimpanzee," "Bears"). With music from award-winning composer Harry Gregson-Williams ("The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," "Shrek" movies), Disneynature's eighth True Life Adventure-the follow-up to 2014's "Bears"-swings into theaters April 17, 2015.
