Noho Arts Center Presents THAT’S AMORE!, Opens 9/16

The multi-award-winning NoHo Arts Center Ensemble (NoHo ACE) is thrilled to present a musical revue that speaks to the Italian in all of us, THAT'S AMORE! AN AMERICAN ITALIAN SONGBOOK. This musical autobiographical revue stars Gilmore Rizzo and is filled with fun music, laughs, and stories about a boy growing up in an Italian-American household when music was king and so was the food! Gilmore is cousin to both legendary American-Italian singer Bobby Darin & American-Italian Jazz Flugelhorn player Chuck Mangione.

'That's Amore!' features some of the best-loved songs from the last 50 years by some of the best singers like, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Connie Francis, and more.

Backed up by The Three Goombahs: Paul Katz, Tod Macofsky, and Perry Gentry - THAT'S AMORE! is an evening of great harmonies, funny stories, and heartwarming memories from Gilmore's childhood about growing up in a family that really loved their music and their pasta.

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST

GILMORE RIZZO is cousin to both American-Italian legendary singer Bobby Darin & Jazz Flugelhorn player Chuck Mangione - so a love of music and theatre is in his DNA.

Gilmore was seen as Tony for 8 1/2 years recurring on the EMMY Award winning series Murphy Brown. He may also seem familiar from his guest appearances on Roseanne, Matlock, Step By Step, Ellen, The Finelli Boys, Murder She Wrote, Living In Captivity, and was seen playing Brady Bunch Trivia with Donny & Marie Osmond on their Daytime talk show. Also an accomplished freelance television producer for HGTV, A&E, SOAPnet, E!, and U.S. field producer for an International award winning documentary on stem cell therapy for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. April 2011 he just finished directing a two hour special at KOCE SoCal PBS about Dr. Maria Nemeth's book "The Energy Of Money".

In February 2010 he was performing at Walt Disney's El Capitan Theater in a production of PAZZAZZ!,written by Richard Sherman & Milt Larson, and Co-starring JoAnne Worley & Adam Wylie. In August 2010 he shared the stage with Joan Ryan & Billy Hutton in the 2010 S.T.A.G.E. Benefit. Other favorite stage roles are: John Proctor in The Crucible, Paul Galt in The Art Of Dining, Nathan Detroit in Guys & Dolls, The Padre in Man Of La Manche, Che in Evita, Harpo in Minnie's Boys, Murray Christmas in Yo, Ho! Ho! A Pirate Christmas, and George Poppet in Redhead.

Gilmore can be seen singing with the four part harmony group "4 Friends". They have 2 group CD's released "4Friends: Who Are Very Vocal About It!" 4Friends LIVE: Playin' With My Friends". They can also be heard vocally on two spiritual CD's "What My Heart Already Knows", and "Dream Big". Their voices were augmented into the mouths of other actors in the documentary "The Queen's Of Drag". Gilmore has returned to cabaret clubs and theatrical venues, with his 3 Goombahs, in a touring show called "That's Amore! An American Italian Songbook". The 2011 hit musical autobiographical revue is a night of fun music, laughs, and stories about a boy growing up in an Italian-American household when music was king and so was the food! "That's Amore" celebrates the food, the music, and the 4 women who influenced, inspired, and gave him some delicious recipes for a most wonderful life!

GINNY McMATH (Director) produced and directed many shows Off Broadway in NYC for The Green Group as well as, Once More, A Carpenters Review which was nominated for a MAC. She also won a Mac award for the show she wrote, directed, and starred in, Mostly Died Blonde. She was picked as one of Rosie O'Donnell's 10 untapped talents in NY and performed on her show. Besides theater she has been seen on many TV shows guest starring, most recently, The Middle. Ginny also coaches actors with her acting technique, "Just Make It Work".

BRYAN MILLER (Musical Direction) is a popular performer, piano bar entertainer, musical director, Voice over actor, and studio singer in the Los Angeles area. His extensive repertoire includes over 2000 songs, ranging from nostalgia of the 30's and 40's to contemporary hits. For many years he has been seen playing piano along side talented friends like Michael Feinstein, Brad Ellis, Betty Bryant, Ray Jessel, and John Bucchino.
No stranger to the New York cabaret club & piano bar circuit, Bryan works currently as a singer/pianist in local clubs and resorts. He has also appeared on Broadway. His rich baritone can be heard on two cast albums for the Gershwin estate, "Lady Be Good" and "Pardon My English". He was featured on the cast album of "Her First Roman" starring Richard Kiley and Leslie Uggams.

Millers voice can be heard on such full length CD's "Songs For Ex-Lovers and Wives", "The 4 Friends: Who Are Very Vocal About It!" and "What My Heart Already Knows" and "The 4 Friends Live: Playin' With My Friends!" for DucyLee Recordings. Studio singer of Disney's syndicated series "Sing Me A Story" as the voice of the Big Bad Wolf!! Another project for Disney, was writing songs for the "Winnie The Pooh" sing-along video "Sing-a-Song-With Pooh Bear" (Pooh's first full length Sing-along-musical). He can also be heard on several delightful children's favorite song recordings for "Child's Play" and on classic literary audio books for "Editorial La Casa de Espana". Bryan has a live studio CD recording called "Bryan Miller" Amazingly Life-like". Performing in front of a live audience he captures almost 40 years of hilarious patter, crowd pleasing songs, and piano bar fan favorites. Over the years he has been musical director for such cabaret performers like: Zelda Rubenstein, David Johnson, Michael Callen, Joe Hui, Donna Theodore, James Eubanks, Edie Alison, Johnny Holliday, Tribute Artist Peter Mac, Gilmore Rizzo, Poppy Fields, Tod Macofsky, and Dean Martin's talented & zany Golddigger Peggy Goel.

ABOUT THE SCHEDULE AND PRICING

THAT'S AMORE! AN AMERICAN ITALIAN SONGBOOK will open on Friday, September 16 and runs through Sunday October 23 at the NoHo Arts Center, 11136 Magnolia Blvd. (at Lankershim) in North Hollywood.
